The country where old history revives, the country of legends and Andersen's fairytales - Denmark. It is probably one of the most patriotic countries in the world with the national flags and symbols and the pictures of royal family everywhere and at the same time there is hardly any other country in the world where you feel as comfortable and easy as in Denmark meeting hospitable and friendly people speaking several foreign languages.

Before visiting the capital city of Denmark you should take a short cruise round the country and enjoy the beauty of small rocky bays, unique fjords, dunes and cliffs of Jutland as well as the wild beauty of more than 400 islands including the biggest island in the world Greenland.

The Danes take care of their nature and ecology and try to preserve their natural environment. That is why Copenhagen is deservedly considered one of the greenest cities in the world and if you travel round the country you will see a lot of private houses in small towns or villages buried in the verdure of gardens, flowers and hedges. And most citizens are more eager to use bikes than cars for everyday journeys.

Copenhagen is called the city of spires as the horizontal line is cut with numerous spires of old churches and castles. The heart of the city is the island of Slotsholmen with the City Hall having an original thermometer with moving figures and the City Museum, a lot of monasteries, Christianborg Palace (the Parliament of Denmark) and Christianshavn. There you can become a witness of everyday majestic ceremony of changing the guards at the Royal Palace. History and art connoisseurs will need several days or even month to walk round the museums and galleries of Copenhagen. If you want to have a nice rest, you should visit the famous Tivoli park decorated with a great number of flowerbeds having about 160 thousand flowers, fountains, bright lights, the well-known Tivoli Palace, theaters, small lakes, restaurants, dance halls, cafes and dozens of wonderful rides.

Of course everyone should see the symbol of Denmark - the Little Mermaid. And small colorful buildings along the streets let you feel inside Andersen's fairytales.

Denmark is the country of castles including Christiansborg, Rossenborg, Amalienborg and Frederiksborg. Near Amalienborg you can become a witness of everyday majestic ceremony of changing the guards at the Royal Palace - one of the most favorite shows of the citizens and the guest of Copenhagen. You can take a tour traveling round numerous castles of Denmark and of course the most famous of them - Elsinor that is known as the castle of Hamlet.

Water sport lovers should travel to Jutland with its rivers and lakes where you can also go fishing getting a special permission for that. And after you get tired of sailing or surfing you can plunge into the history at the Museum of Vikings and Old City Museum. And your children will of course enjoy visiting a well-known park Legoland where they can see the most famous European sites made of 42 million Lego components or the Museum of Toys.
